Ai fen

Ai fen

Ai fen

This Analog Desire (Makes Me Slow)

We are not,
Going to meet after all
We are, one burnout
Too many
Too LATE.

This ANALOG,
desire
makes me slow
Slow down,
SLOW.

slowdown, slowdown

Slow, slow,
Slow summer nights.
Under meteor skies.
Spent burning on the ground,.
I want to see winter,
Silent & Sound
Feel safe in repetition
Slow it down.

We are not,
Going to meet after all
This ANALOG,
desire
makes me slow
Slow down,
SLOW.

Ai fen: As I Thought

I want to live inside,
your bones
Make myself clandestine,
a home
I’ll visit you once a week
Maybe less,
nevermore

Chorus:
I dreamt I
re-organized my skin
I dreamt I
tore it out
to let you in

I GUESS I’M NOT AS CEREBRAL
AS I THOUGHT

Lust is lethal
A slow poison
Freezes your veins
Like someone watching you
While you sleep

Chorus:
I dreamt I
re-organized my skin
I dreamt I
tore it out
to let you in

I GUESS I’M NOT AS CEREBRAL
AS I THOUGHT

About

Ai fen is my Other-ed Self.

Ai fen is my Chinese name, given to me at birth as a counterpart to my first, Polish name. Ai-fen is spelt with a hyphen, but I have decided to omit it. In doing so I refuse the simplicity of hyphenated identities so often put upon the children of immigrants. To be hyphenated is to be implicated in a play of both prioritization and afterthought. Our identities are never so straightforward as to be placated with a hyphen. What they require is space.

Ai fen is powered by Keychange — an international campaign led by Reeperbahn Festival, PRS Foundation and Musikcentrum Öst, supported by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union, in partnership with Tallinn Music Week, Iceland Airwaves, BIME, Oslo World, Linecheck, Ireland Music Week, SACEM, Liverpool Sound City, Way Out West, Spring Break, MAMA, Mutek and Breakout West
